My mother's Eulogy
Ileana Esther Dominguez was born on April 23, 1929 by Hector Fernado Dominguez and wife Emilia born in Cielas, Puerto Rico.
In 1930, while still a young child, the Dominguez family relocated to the East Side of the Bronx in the state of New York. While residing in the apartment houses, my mother, Ileana decided to take a stroll outside the window where there was a rolled up mattress. She stood
on top of the mattress, trying to observe a plane that was flying by and as she was trying to observe the plane, she was tilting her head back and lost her balance and fell over the banister falling 5 stories down. Her fall was broken by a clothes line before hitting the ground.
It was at this time that the Lord was working with this young child. While lying motionless on the ground, a neighbor walked by and saw that her head was split open. The neighbor pushed everything back inside her scalp and took her to the emergency room by way of taxi.
The doctors said that because of this accicent, this young child would not live past the age of 36 nor would she ever be able to have any children. However, the Lord was working inside this young soul and the doctors would be proven wrong.
While attending a church called "La Iglesia Del Valle" (translated means 'The Church of the Valley'), this young girl at the age of 8 years old, opened her heart to the Lord and found salvation. Salvation took a toll on this young girl.
One day while sitting on the steps after rollersaking int he streets at the age of 12, a young man who was also rollerskating in the streets, fell and broke his arm right in front of her. This young man looked straight up into her eyes and told her that one day she would be his wife.
Four years later, this young man went into the Military Service. Little to her surprise, this young man returned from the Military Service seeking and successfully finding this young lady. Once again the flame was lit and burning bright. My mother graduated High School at the age of 18. My father graduated Manhood upon his return from the Military at the age of 22.
The Lord once again was working in my mother's life and one year after re-united, they married in the same church were she received her salvation 11 years earlier.
On November 23, 1948, Joseph and Ileana Vargas began a family by having a son whom they proudly named Joseph V. Argas Jr. Ileana was not only a mother but an inspiration to the church that she attended in the early
years of their marriage, by singing songs of praise and worship, touching the hearts of many who sat and listened in hunger of the word at the Church of Glad Tithings in Jamaica Long Island, New York.
In 1962, my mother and father decided to go west and moved cross country to San Diego, California. My mother's first love was always the church where she continuously participated. Her second love was her family, which consisted of her husband and 5 children.
In San Diego, my mother once again strived for the things of the Lord through church activities. She always kept an open heart to outsiders such as visitors, children and church friends. She was truly a housewife technician standing by her husband's side. Once again, they re-loaced to Wilmington, California
My mother is greatly loved and pursued by the members of the church (Prince-E-Pe) Principe de Paz, which translated means 'Prince of Peace', where her spiritual family grew even larger. The love and unbelievable concern that these members showed for my mother would even be hard for a son or daughter to match. This was an unconditional and obvious love that these brothers and sisters displayed.
After great discussion between mom and dad, it was agreed that they both wanted to spend their final days on earth int he state where it all started, California.
Very few people knew that my mother had visions. Once again, her vision would come true. She is now fellow shipping with her mother, father and her son that passed away who had never been named but would have been 43 years old this year.
As she looks down upon us, my mother now is waiting for
my father's arrival. I've been asked if I have been saddened by the death of my mother but I reply that her suffering is over. She is in the place that she has strived to get to for 72 years, always mentioning that she would be walking the streets paved with gold with her Lord.
Mom, we hold you in great praise and ask that you once again forgive us for our maknesses-tkat we have shown while you were here amongst us. We will take care of Dad as long as he wants to stay with us but we know he longs to see you soon. Mom, from your children, 8 grandchildren and great grandchildren and all others who are part of the Vargas family, we ask that you continue to pray for us so when the day comes, we may join you in your new home.
Love, your son,
Joseph Vargas, Jr.
